Course Information

This course is designed to provide delegates with a working understanding of the PRINCE2® structured project management method. It will enable them to use the method when working within a PRINCE2® project and to pass the PRINCE2® Practitioner examination.

The course covers the full PRINCE2® syllabus and therefore equips delegates to take the Practitioner examination, but also to understand the broad range of PRINCE2®’s principles, key themes, processes and techniques. The aim during the course is to achieve an effective balance between exam success and the need for skills transfer.

Delegates are required to undertake preliminary study using Pre-Course Workbook. Further self-study is also expected during the evenings of each course day.

Please Note: A prerequisite for the Practitioner Course is that delegates must have passed PRINCE2 Foundation Course

Frequently Asked Questions

What time does the PRINCE2 course start and finish each day?

On day one, the training starts at 9:15am and finishes at 5pm. On the second day, the Practitioner exam starts at 09:15am and finishes at 1pm.

How long is a PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification valid for?

Candidates who pass the Practitioner exam are recognized as a “PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner”. Individuals will remain registered for a period of three calendar years. To maintain their registered status, Practitioners must:

  • Retake the full Practitioner exam at the end of the three years
  • Maintain their certification through PRINCE2 Membership.
How do I maintain my PRINCE2 Certification Membership?

To retain current membership a candidate must satisfy the following criteria within the three-year period:

  1. Join membership within three months of passing your exam and remain in membership for the three-year period by renewing the subscription each year
  2. Maintain the PRINCE2 digital badge which will be awarded as part of membership for the three-year period. Candidates will need to record 20 CPD points each year, in the prescribed categories, for the badge to be extended on renewal.

If a candidate has satisfied the above two criteria they will be considered current and issued a new certificate at the end of year three that is valid for a further three years. You will only receive a new certificate if your digital badge has been maintained for the three-year period.

When was PRINCE2 last updated?

AXELOS updated PRINCE2 in 2017 and released a new publication and new Foundation and Practitioner exams in English. This was prompted by changes since the last edition of the guidance in 2009, as well as expert feedback from PRINCE2 practitioners.
